The pilot transfer services and the pilots in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern were integrated in VEB Bagger-, Bugsier- und Bergungsreederei Rostock until 1990. Then, in 1990, adapting to the German federal system, an independent pilot brotherhood Wismar/Rostock/Stralsund was founded by WSD Nord, Kiel, as a corporation under public law, albeit without a pilot transfer service for the pilots.

The pilot transfer service with pilot boats was then completely taken over by the Bagger-,Bugsier- und Bergungsreederei GmbH.

Lotsbetrieb GmbH M/V was created and entered in the commercial register on 10 November 1992 and took over the pilot transfer services as of 1 January 1995 for the entire
coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern for all four stations, Timmendorf/Poel, Rostock-Warnemünde, Barhöft and Freest.

At the beginning of 2012, we took the first step towards the North Sea and started service in Wilhelmshaven. First with one of our proven boats, and now with the new boat “Warnemünde” built especially for the North Sea.

In 2013, we were also able to introduce ourselves in Bremerhaven and offer local harbor pilots a safe and fast transfer service.
